COLLABORATIVE
a journey the student owns
where everyone is seen, heard, and understood.

Kickoff Week in Atlanta, Georgia | June 7 – 11, 2027
Overview
From the founder
When I was new to the profession, the titles teacher and educator did not sit quite right with me, so I chose to call myself a student-centered facilitator of learning. My approach was that the student owned the educational journey, and it was my job to make it worthwhile.
I have always tried to manage the content I taught around the needs of my students. At first I created authentic learning experiences by writing math problems for students to solve based on their hobbies and interests. That was too time consuming to customize for every student. When I created a conics lesson on parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas with stations that allowed every student to have a different outcome, I was able to reimagine my approach to authentic learning experiences for my students. Because I am a Type 4A personality, I needed to put my ideas on paper so I could understand my own thought process. That is how the REIMAGINE framework was born.
The framework is something you live rather than something you memorize. Once it takes hold, it changes the questions you ask while you plan and what you notice about each student while you teach. That shift in mindset stays with you long after the collaborative ends.
Dr. Maple, Founder
What you take with you
The ability to design one lesson plan that gives every student an authentic, unique learning experience, and to adapt it quickly, class period by class period, for the students actually sitting in front of you.
The Framework
Working within state standards and the required curriculum, teachers can transform the content they already teach into authentic learning experiences every student owns by reimagining how they plan and deliver it.
Traditional authentic learning is built on the interests of each student. This approach is built on the actual learning and how each student approaches it. Nine components give teachers a way to actively consider the content they are required to teach, the students sitting in front of them, and what makes that content relevant to those students. Those considerations shape one interactive plan that holds up no matter which path a student takes.
The process was developed to meet a need in the founder's mathematics classroom, but it works in any content area.
For any educational journey to succeed, both teachers and students have to be seen, heard, and understood.
In what ways is the lesson producing what you expected?
To what extent are you making reasoning visible?
How are you creating an authentic learning experience?
In what ways can all students find something that is genuinely theirs?
To what extent are you finding evidence of thinking?
How are you making it safe to reason out loud?
In what ways have you allowed students to build understanding?
To what extent are students able to decide that the content is worth learning?
How are you allowing students to own the journey?
