SCFLC is a twelve-week cohort that begins the second week of June each year. It opens with a five-day, in-person Kickoff Week in Atlanta, where you will work hands-on with the REIMAGINE framework, starting with the lesson you find most challenging to teach and then applying the same thinking to your favorite one.
The remaining eleven weeks are asynchronous and fall during summer break, while you are planning for the coming school year. You work on your own schedule, and this course is where the cohort comes together. It is the place to share the lessons you are redesigning, ask for feedback, and offer it to others. The collaborative continues into the first couple of weeks of the new school year, so you have support when you begin teaching what you planned.
The cohort is open to K-12 teachers in every subject, with a focus on secondary mathematics, where generic strategies most often fall flat. Colleagues from other grades and content areas will look at your lessons with fresh eyes and notice things you might miss.
You can earn two certificates of participation, one for 40 hours at the close of Kickoff Week and a second for 30 hours when the cohort ends in August. What you take with you is the ability to design one lesson plan that gives every student an authentic, unique learning experience, and to adapt it quickly, class period by class period, for the students actually sitting in front of you.
Registering for this course reserves your place in the cohort and gives you access to this space on June 7, 2027 where you will connect with your fellow participants during and after Kickoff Week.
